There is an exciting hands-on opportunity to be an essential part of the Quality Team ensuring Recce's compliance across Quality Control activities supporting the development of Recce’s internationally recognised new class of synthetic anti-infectives.
The Position
We are seeking a motivated Quality Control (QC) Associate Scientist to join Recce Pharmaceuticals Ltd at our Macquarie Park Pilot Plant in Sydney. Reporting to the Senior QC Scientist, this position has a primary focus on stability program coordination, non-routine QC program support, sample & result tracking, documentation, and core QC laboratory support within a developing Quality environment aligned to company growth and regulatory requirements.
You will be expected to support reliable QC delivery by maintaining accurate records, coordinating assigned testing and program activities, escalating risks promptly, and assisting with QA/QMS, Manufacturing, and analytical R&D activities where appropriately scoped and prioritised through Quality.
Qualifications & Experience
Tertiary qualification in chemistry, or a relevant scientific discipline.
Have 2 to 4 years relevant work experience in a laboratory, QC, analytical, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, research, or regulated testing environment.
Have practical GLP or GMP laboratory competencies including sample handling, reagent preparation, basic analytical testing, laboratory calculations, and controlled documentation.
Demonstrated ability to learn and apply industry-related technologies, processes, and concepts.
Have clear written communication skills, including data summaries, testing updates, draft reports, and controlled records along with excellent Excel and general computer skills for trackers, schedules, data summaries, sample inventories, and laboratory records.
Demonstrated initiative and ability to work effectively autonomously and within a team environment.
Essential Criteria
Possess a strong record of producing contemporaneous, complete, accurate, traceable laboratory records with strong attention to detail.
Possess demonstrated skills across laboratory or stability programs, such as sample tracking, result tracking, external testing follow-up, and documentation follow-up, data collation, and draft reporting.
Have strong procedural discipline, with sound judgement to identify errors, gaps, inconsistencies, unexpected results, or risks requiring escalation.
Flexible, disciplined approach to providing support across QC, QA, Manufacturing, and aspects of R&D while maintaining focus on core QC, stability, and non-routine program responsibilities.
Possess strong scientific curiosity, critical thinking, process analysis, and problem-solving skills, with evidence of thinking through observations rather than operating mechanically.
Have the ability to interpret regulatory guidelines and implement required systems.
Show, sound reasoning, strong problem-solving skills and the willingness to seek assistance and share knowledge.
Be adaptable and self-motivated with a positive can-do attitude, and excellent organizational skills.
Ability to adapt to a fast-paced manufacturing environment and flexible with work hours, particularly when working with a global team and multiple time zones.
Working collaboratively with the broader organisation for finance, legal and other project related activities.
High attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable Criteria
Experience or interest in polymer chemistry, complex mixtures, formulation, CMC, pharmaceutical development, or analytical method development.
Demonstrated initiative in improving laboratory workflows, documentation practices, trackers, templates, data summaries, or other systems.
Practical experience with analytical techniques or laboratory equipment relevant to pharmaceutical QC, such as HPLC/UPLC, SEC/GPC, RID, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR, KF, viscosity/rheology along with a familiarity with OOS, OOT, deviation, CAPA, change control, audit, or document control processes.
Experience supporting inspection readiness/audits filing and retrieval of QC documentation.
Experience coordinating with external GMP labs/CMOs (logistics, data package collation, controlled document exchange)
