Somerville House is a day and boarding school for girls established in 1899, providing exceptional education for students from Pre-Prep through to Year 12, with a co-educational Pre-Prep offering. The Role

Somerville House is seeking a Science Laboratory Technician on a permanent part-time, term-time basis, supporting the Science department with the day-to-day running of the laboratories across our Junior and Senior Schools.

The normal hours of duty for this position are 24 hours per week to be worked during the operational hours of 8:00am and 4:30pm across Monday, Tuesday and Thursday during school term-time only. (There is a degree of flexibility in negotiating working days.)

It is a mandatory requirement to hold a current paid blue card and a Certificate III or higher and/or laboratory experience.

About You

• Are you an experienced laboratory assistant looking for a new dynamic and fast paced environment?

• Do you have a high level of interpersonal skills to work alongside both Junior and Senior School teachers and students?

• Do you have a genuine interest and sound knowledge on scientific principals and procedures?

• Are you able to work in a variety of laboratory tasks such as maintenance of equipment, stocktakes, preparation of laboratory spaces, and maintenance of databases?

Qualifications

• Qualifications in a relevant Scientific field (at Certificate III level or higher, and/or experience in a laboratory environment)

• Current Working with Children Paid Blue Card.
