Viridis Consultants is a specialist water quality consultancy. Since 2008 we've been the people water utilities, councils and regulators call when the water quality problem is hard, drawing on a depth of trained specialists, backed by engineers and scientists. We help our clients achieve and maintain regulatory compliance and reduce the risk of water quality and environmental incidents. Our approach is simple: deliver quality outcomes our clients can rely on.
Our specialists are known and respected nationwide for their expertise and pragmatic solutions that really deliver value for our clients. With almost 20 years of experience, we have built an extensive track record across municipal water and environmental projects, delivering excellence in identifying risks and opportunities as well as planning, design and implementation. We work with state regulators, large metropolitan utilities and small regional and remote councils nationwide.
We primarily deliver water quality management services through the development, implementation, review and audit of risk management systems. Our work spans drinking, recycled and wastewater services. This role sits at the centre of that holistic service, leading client engagements and providing expert advice that protects public health.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Water Quality Consultant to join our team. You will lead water quality risk management projects for utilities, councils and regulators, drawing on deep technical knowledge to deliver pragmatic solutions that create measurable outcomes for communities across Australia.
This is a hybrid role. We are based in Brisbane with an office in Morningside and we split our time between working from home and regular office days that support mentoring and team cohesion. We are willing to consider a remote position for the right applicant.
After almost two decades of refining how we work, we combine flexibility with the collaboration that keeps our team connected. Regular travel to client sites across the eastern states is an inherent and ongoing requirement of this role, typically including overnight and multi-day trips to metropolitan, regional and remote locations. The successful applicant must be genuinely willing and able to travel on this basis and be based within easy reach of a major airport.
Lead the development, implementation, review and audit of water quality risk management systems (e.g. DWQMPs and RWQMPs).
Interpret water quality data and prepare high-quality technical reports, investigations and recommendations for clients and regulators.
Advise on the specification and performance of new and upgraded infrastructure, including health-based target (HBT) assessments.
Plan and facilitate water quality risk assessment workshops with client teams, leading hazard identification, risk analysis and the development of risk registers and improvement plans.
Deliver training and expert advice to water utility operations staff.
Undertake business development and marketing activities, and maintain a professional network of clients, peers and service providers.
Mentor and coach junior consultants and engineers, sharing your knowledge to grow the team.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to build strong client relationships.
Willingness and ability to undertake regular travel to client sites across the eastern states, including overnight and multi-day trips to regional and remote locations.
An open Australian driving licence.
Demonstrated experience leading project delivery across multiple concurrent work streams, including scope management, resource coordination and client reporting.
The right to live and work in Australia.

Knowledge of the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines, Australian Guidelines for Water Recycling and relevant state regulatory frameworks.
Exemplar Global water quality management system lead auditor certification.
