Build real AI and automation capability from the ground up

Steelcraft Group designs and manufactures precision steel wall frames and trusses for residential builders across South East Queensland. We started in 2015, we're trusted by many of the region's leading home builders, and we're on a serious growth path. We run on a clear operating rhythm and we have a culture that's ambitious, values-driven, and genuinely enjoys winning together.

We're creating a brand-new, hands-on role to help us get far more out of the technology and AI tools available to us. It's a rare greenfield mandate. You'll have real ownership, you'll work directly with our leadership team, and you'll see your work used across the business almost immediately.

What you'll be doing

There's a significant amount of repetitive, manual work across the business that's ready to be done smarter. Your job is to find it, build practical solutions, and free up real capacity, then take on bigger and more interesting problems as you go.

Day to day, you will:

  • Work with our teams to understand how they operate and find the highest-value opportunities to improve

  • Design, build, and ship automations and AI assistants that people actually use

  • Connect our systems and data so they work together

  • Drive adoption by training and supporting the team so the value is real and lasting

  • Build responsibly, within sensible data and security guardrails

  • Measure and show the impact, in time saved and capacity created

What we're looking for

We care far more about what you've built and put into real-world use than about a list of tools on your CV. Fluency with modern AI tools matters, but the skill we're hiring for is the judgment to know what's worth building and the ability to deliver solutions that genuinely work and improve the status-quo.

You'll likely have:

  • A track record of building and shipping automations or AI tools that are genuinely in use in a business, not just prototypes

  • Strong systems thinking: you see how processes, tools, and data connect, and where the leverage is

  • Real hands-on technical capability across automation tools, integrations, no-code and low-code platforms, and AI assistants

  • Sound judgment about which problems are worth solving and which aren't

  • The people skills to bring a non-technical team along and earn genuine adoption

  • A self-starter mindset: you can take a goal and minimal direction and simply get it done

Exposure to manufacturing, construction, or trades is a bonus but not essential.

What's in it for you

This is the kind of role that's hard to find: a blank canvas, real autonomy, and the chance to build something that matters from day one. You'll have a direct line to leadership, you'll see the impact of your work straight away, and you'll grow as with the company growth. You'll be part of a team that takes the work seriously, looks after each other, and has a good time kicking goals together. Onsite at our modern Larapinta facility with on-site parking.

How to apply

Apply with your CV and a short cover letter telling us about one thing you've built, who used it, and the difference it made. We read these first.

Steelcraft Group is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds.
