Most companies talk about AI. We've spent the last twelve months quietly doing the hard work — Board-endorsed governance, enterprise infrastructure, security posture, assessed access to frontier models. The foundation is built. Now we're building the team.
This is the founding engineering hire for a dedicated AI product team at an ASX-listed financial services company, reporting into a small, senior group that includes the CEO. There is no squad. No layers. No six-month roadmap review before you can ship something. Just a pipeline of real AI product initiatives — across adviser productivity, digital advice, operational supervision, and licensee services — and the autonomy to build them.
We've inverted the traditional model. Our business people — experienced domain experts with deep knowledge of financial advice — are already taking ideas from concept to working prototype using AI tools. Interactive screens, architecture sketches, user flows: they build the brief. Your job is to take those prototypes and make them real.
That pairing — a business product owner who understands the domain, and an AI-native engineer who owns the full stack — is the unit we're building around. It's a model that lets a small team punch well above its weight. We have the pipeline. We have the prototypes. We've been waiting for you.
Take working AI-generated prototypes and ship them as production-grade applications
Own the full stack end-to-end: front-end, back-end, data, infrastructure, deployment, monitoring
Architect for simplicity — managed services, proven patterns, minimal moving parts
Build for a regulated environment where security and auditability aren't optional
Work in cycles of days, not weeks — deploy continuously, iterate with direct feedback
Use AI coding tools as your primary workflow — not a side experiment
Set the engineering culture, standards, and patterns from the ground up
You've shipped production applications end-to-end and can point to things that are live
AI coding tools are already central to how you work — not something you're curious about
You thrive with real autonomy and fast, direct feedback
You think simplicity is a competitive advantage, not a compromise
Bonus if you've worked in financial services or regulated environments, or built multi-tenant B2B SaaS platforms.
The founding engineer role at a company that is genuinely building with AI — not positioning for it
A seat in a small, senior team with direct executive access and board-level visibility of your work
Full autonomy over technology choices, architecture, and working methods
The chance to define what AI-native engineering looks like at Centrepoint — and grow from there
Competitive remuneration for a senior individual contributor
Hybrid working in Sydney
How to Apply?
Hit APPLY and include a short note (200–300 words) on what you’ve shipped and how AI tools feature in your day-to-day workflow. A live portfolio or examples of work you own carries more weight than a traditional CV.
