Cybersecurity Engineer with NV1 clearance, VIC based.

You'll be joining a federal government environment supporting critical cybersecurity operations within a collaborative team across infrastructure, cloud, and security. The organisation leverages a modern Microsoft technology stack and is focused on strengthening its security monitoring and detection capabilities.

Your new role
In this hands-on role, you will support and enhance security monitoring capabilities using Microsoft Sentinel, including configuring log ingestion via Syslog, APIs, and connectors. You'll be responsible for building and tuning alerts, rules, and automation playbooks, performing gap analysis across logging coverage, and contributing to cost optimisation of SIEM usage. You will also assist with incident monitoring and investigation, work with Microsoft Defender and security tools such as Compliance Centre and Insider Risk, and collaborate with infrastructure teams across Azure, M365, and Windows environments to improve detection and response outcomes.

What you'll need to succeed

• NV1 security clearance is essential
• Experience in security monitoring or SOC environments
• Hands-on Microsoft Sentinel experience
• Log ingestion experience (Syslog, APIs)
• Build and tune alerts, rules, automation
• Experience with Microsoft Defender
• Exposure to Microsoft security tools ecosystem
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
