About the Role
We are an enterprise organisation seeking a talented Flutter Developer to join our technology team on a greenfields build. You will be responsible for developing a true native mobile application - not a web wrapper or hybrid solution - where platform performance, device hardware integration, and native user experience are paramount.
This app is a core operational tool for a large field workforce, handling data capture, real-time tracking, document access, push notifications, and project-based team communication. It must work seamlessly across iOS and Android on an even split of devices, with robust offline capability for staff operating in the field.
This is a modern AI-assisted development environment. Your role will be as much about reviewing and validating AI-generated code for correctness, performance, and compliance as it is about writing code yourself. Engineering judgement, attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to code quality are essential.
Working from clear requirements provided by a dedicated architect and business analyst, you will focus purely on delivery — no leadership responsibility, just high-quality Flutter development done right from day one.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain a production-grade native Flutter application targeting both iOS and Android from a single codebase
Implement core device integrations — GPS/location services, camera, photo capture, and QR code scanning
Develop robust offline capability with local data storage and synchronisation when connectivity is restored
Integrate push notification and in-app notification systems for real-time operator alerts
Implement enterprise authentication and identity integration for seamless, secure user sign-on
Integrate with Microsoft Teams for project-based chat and team communication features
Connect with RESTful APIs served by the enterprise .NET backend
Manage private App Store and Google Play distribution, including over-the-air update strategies to support rapid, flexible deployment
Review AI-generated code critically — assessing correctness, performance, security, and adherence to architectural standards
Write and maintain unit, widget, and integration tests upholding a strong test culture throughout the project
Work within CI/CD pipelines to maintain code quality gates and streamline mobile deployment
Collaborate closely with the development team, architect, and business analyst to deliver against requirements
Requires Skills & Experience
Must have:
Proven commercial experience delivering production Flutter applications on both iOS and Android
Strong Dart programming skills with deep understanding of Flutter's rendering engine, widget lifecycle, and state management
Experience with state management solutions such as BLoC, Riverpod, or Provider
Hands-on experience with native device integrations — GPS/location, camera, and QR/barcode scanning using Flutter plugins
Experience implementing offline-capable mobile apps with local data storage and sync
Solid understanding of push notification implementation across iOS and Android
Experience integrating mobile apps with enterprise identity and authentication systems
Familiarity with enterprise cloud services integration (Azure preferred)
Experience with private App Store and Google Play distribution, and over-the-air update strategies
Demonstrated commitment to testing — unit, widget, and integration tests in Flutter
Experience with CI/CD pipelines for mobile (Fastlane, Bitrise, Azure DevOps, or similar)
Comfortable working in an AI-assisted development environment — reviewing, validating, and refining AI-generated code
Comfortable with full-time onsite work in Glendenning NSW (Western Sydney). This role is in the room with the team, every day. If you're after remote or hybrid, this isn't the role for you.
Highly regarded:
Experience building and deploying apps to large-scale field workforces (500+ users)
Microsoft Teams or similar enterprise messaging platform integration experience
Prior experience on greenfields enterprise mobile builds
Familiarity with Flutter's platform channels for native iOS/Android code where plugins fall short
Understanding of Apple and Google store review processes and strategies to minimise deployment friction
What We Offer
$120,000 – $150,000 + superannuation (commensurate with experience)
Permanent, full-time role with long-term stability
Glendenning office with onsite parking - straight off the M7, easy access from anywhere in Western Sydney, the Hills, the Hawkesbury, or the Blue Mountains. No CBD commute.
Greenfields project — build a production-grade native mobile app from the ground up, the right way
Modern, AI-assisted development environment with cutting-edge tooling
Clear requirements from a dedicated architect and BA — you focus on code, not meetings
Collaborative, supportive team environment within a large enterprise organisation
Professional development opportunities in a forward-thinking technology team
