About the role

Civil Safety is seeking an experienced Web Developer to join our team on a contract basis. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our digital presence and develop innovative web solutions that support our mission in the civil safety sector. Based in Ashmore, QLD 4214, you will play a crucial role in designing, building, and maintaining web applications that enhance our service delivery and user experience. This position offers the chance to work with modern technologies whilst making a meaningful impact within a growing organisation.

Key responsibilities

1. Design, develop, and deploy responsive web applications using current web development frameworks and technologies

2. Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and translate them into technical specifications

3. Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices and coding standards

4. Perform testing, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal website and application performance

5. Manage and optimise databases, ensuring data integrity and security

6. Implement and maintain web security measures to protect against vulnerabilities and threats

7. Provide technical support and maintenance for existing web applications and websites

8. Stay current with emerging web technologies, frameworks, and industry trends to continuously improve our digital offerings

What we're looking for

1. Proven experience as a Web Developer or in a similar role, with a portfolio demonstrating your previous work

2. Strong proficiency in front-end languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, along with experience in modern frameworks such as React, Vue.js, or Angular

3. Solid understanding of back-end development and server-side languages, such as PHP, Python, Node.js, or Java

4. Experience with databases, including both relational (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and non-relational (MongoDB) systems

5. Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git, and experience working in collaborative development environments

6. Knowledge of web security best practices, including SSL/TLS, authentication, and data protection measures

7. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team

8. Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

9. Preferred: Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud), API development, and agile development methodologies
