The Opportunity You'll play a key role in the evolution of several business-critical digital platforms, including customer portals and online purchasing experiences.

Working alongside Product Managers, Business Analysts, UX Designers and Engineers, you'll help define and deliver the next generation of frontend architecture while remaining hands-on with development.

This is a highly visible position where your technical decisions will directly influence customer experience, engineering standards and future platform capabilities.

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead the design and development of modern frontend applications using React and JavaScript.
• Architect scalable, maintainable frontend solutions with a strong focus on performance and user experience.
• Build reusable component libraries and application frameworks that support multiple products and brands.
• Work closely with Product, UX and Engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Mentor engineers through technical guidance, code reviews and best-practice development.
• Drive frontend engineering standards, architecture decisions and development practices.
• Collaborate with distributed engineering teams, including offshore developers.
• Contribute to platform evolution, future integrations and long-term technical strategy.
• Identify opportunities to improve scalability, performance, accessibility and maintainability.

What We're Looking ForEssential Technical Experience

• Extensive experience building production-grade applications with React.
• Expert-level JavaScript and modern frontend engineering practices.
• Strong understanding of frontend architecture, state management and component design.
• Deep knowledge of HTML, CSS and browser fundamentals.
• Experience building custom solutions rather than relying heavily on UI frameworks and third-party libraries.
• Strong understanding of application performance, optimisation and scalability.
• Experience working with APIs and integrating complex backend services.
• CI/CD and modern software delivery experience.
• Strong Git and code review practices.

Leadership & Communication

• Proven experience leading technical initiatives and influencing engineering direction.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience mentoring engineers and improving engineering capability across teams.
• Ability to challenge assumptions, solve problems and drive outcomes.
• Comfortable operating in fast-moving environments where priorities evolve.

Nice to Have (not essential)

• GraphQL experience.
• MongoDB or NoSQL exposure.
• Experience building shared component libraries or design systems.
• Experience within FinTech, InsurTech or highly regulated industries.
• Exposure to backend development or full-stack engineering.
• Experience supporting multi-brand or multi-tenant platforms.
