This is a hands-on Systems / Cloud Engineer role where you'll also lift how IT is delivered, supported, and experienced across the business.
You'll be the local face of IT, partnering with global teams (US) while driving both technical uplift and service excellence.

What you'll be doing
Ownership across delivery + experience:
  • Run and improve the environment — BAU support, incidents, and hands-on engineering
  • Own IT service delivery — ensure reliable, responsive, and business-aligned IT support
  • Lead cloud transformation — modernise Azure + expand AWS capability
  • Own the roadmap — plan, prioritise, and deliver monthly outcomes
  • Reduce MSP reliance — assess, transition, and manage vendors against SLAs
  • Engage the business — identify where IT can improve operations and user experience

Service delivery focus
  • Improve service reliability, responsiveness, and user satisfaction
  • Establish and uplift service standards, SLAs, and support processes
  • Act as the escalation point for critical incidents
  • Bring structure to an environment with light documentation and evolving processes
  • Ensure vendors/MSPs are delivering measurable outcomes, not just effort
  • Bridge the gap between technical capability and business expectations

What the environment looks like
  • Cloud mix: ~70% Azure (internal) / ~30% AWS (customer-facing)
  • Current maturity: ~6/10 (stable but ageing)
  • Legacy footprint: VMs, servers, file shares
  • Documentation: Exists but limited

Where it's heading:
  • Cloud-native architecture (Azure + AWS)
  • Reduced on-prem / legacy footprint
  • Standardised platforms (OneDrive, SharePoint, Azure Storage)
  • Stronger operational maturity and service discipline
Tech & focus areas
  • Azure (core platform)
  • AWS (growing capability)
  • Cloud architecture & migration
  • Networking (incl. VPNs)
  • Zero Trust concepts
  • IT service delivery & vendor management
How you'll operate
  • Heavily hands-on (majority in the tools)
  • Own both technical outcomes and service experience
  • Self-directed — set and execute your own roadmap
  • Balance BAU, incidents, and project delivery
  • Occasional out-of-hours collaboration with US teams
What success looks like
  • Measurable uplift in service reliability and user experience
  • Reduced reliance on MSPs, with clear accountability and SLAs
  • Environment maturity improved (6 → 8/10)
  • Strong alignment between IT delivery and business needs
  • Clear progress toward cloud-native architecture

What they're looking for
  • Strong hands-on Systems / Cloud Engineer background
  • Experience improving IT service delivery and support models
  • Comfortable managing vendors/MSPs against outcomes
  • Confident across Azure and/or AWS
  • Able to operate in ambiguity and bring structure
  • Solutions-focused — brings options, trade-offs, and improvements
  • Driven by both technical quality and user experience
Why this role
  • Own both engineering and service delivery — rare combination
  • Full visibility and control of the environment
  • Opportunity to reset how IT is delivered locally
  • Path into broader leadership (budgeting, vendors, team build)
