Data Engineer | 6 Month Contract | Leading Sydney University

Sydney CBD fringe | Hybrid | $950 to $1,050 per day

Our client, one of Australia's most respected universities, is seeking an experienced Data Engineer for a contract engagement through to the end of December 2026. You will join the data engineering team during an active platform modernisation, working across an established BI environment and a growing Snowflake footprint.

The role:

• Design and build efficient, scalable data ingestion pipelines
• Work across ETL/ELT development, source-to-target mapping, tuning and optimisation
• Contribute to enterprise data modelling and technical documentation
• Collaborate with technical teams and business stakeholders in an agile environment
• Support the administration and development of the BI/Analytics and integration environment

About you:

• Strong hands-on SQL across relational and non-relational environments
• Experience with cloud data warehousing, Snowflake highly regarded
• Proficiency with ETL/ELT tooling such as Talend, Informatica, Streamsets or Qlik
• Cloud platform experience (Azure, AWS or GCP)
• Exposure to BI and visualisation tools (Power BI, Tableau, OBIEE)
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with stakeholders at all levels
