About the Role

We're currently looking for an experienced Functional and Automation Test Engineer (Hybrid role - majority Automation) to join our consulting team, working on large-scale enterprise programs where quality, stability, and modern engineering practices are critical.

This is a hands-on, automation-first role, suited to someone who is passionate about building and improving scalable test frameworks, rather than relying on tool-based or record-and-playback approaches. You'll play a key role in uplifting automation capability and driving best practice across the delivery teams.

While the primary focus will be on automation engineering, there will be a smaller component of functional testing required to support end-to-end delivery and ensure coverage across key business scenarios.

Please note: This role offers flexible working arrangements; however, candidates must be Sydney-based.



What You'll Do

• Design, build, and maintain automation frameworks using Playwright and TypeScript
• Develop clean, reusable, and scalable automation code across UI and API layers
• Execute and support a smaller proportion of manual/functional testing (SIT/UAT support where required)
• Improve test stability through advanced locator strategies and robust framework design
• Contribute to data-driven and API testing across RESTful services
• Work closely with developers, BAs, and DevOps teams in a fast-paced environment
• Troubleshoot and resolve automation issues, improving reliability and execution speed
• Help uplift automation practices and mentor others where appropriate

What We're Looking For

• Strong hands-on experience in automation testing using Playwright and TypeScript (essential)
• Proven ability to build and maintain automation frameworks from scratch
• Experience across both UI and API testing
• Solid understanding of modern automation practices and coding standards
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions)
• Ability to apply advanced locator strategies (dynamic XPath, CSS selectors, handling complex DOM structures)
• Strong problem-solving skills and a code-first mindset
• Some experience in manual/functional testing (SIT/UAT) to support broader delivery
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
