Azure Cloud Engineer
Contract (6 months) | 3 Days On-site / 2 Days Remote
The Opportunity
We're seeking an experienced Azure Cloud Engineer to join a growing cloud team handling a broad mix of cloud infrastructure, migration, and application dependency work. This contract role suits a well-rounded engineer who's comfortable across Azure services — compute, storage, security, identity, and networking — and who can operate across both greenfield project delivery and steady-state BAU support. You'll be part of a team of ~8 cloud engineers following shared standards and naming conventions.
What You'll Be Doing
• Supporting and delivering Azure infrastructure across compute, storage, networking, and security
• Assisting with application migration projects, including dependency mapping and assessment
• Building and maintaining Infrastructure as Code using Terraform for repeatable deployments
• Implementing and managing Azure Landing Zones and cloud foundations
• Supporting CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or Azure Pipelines
• Administering Microsoft 365 services including SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, Teams, Intune and OneDrive
• Collaborating with architects, security, and dev teams on cloud solution delivery
• Monitoring and optimising Azure environments using Azure Monitor and Log Analytics
• Supporting BAU activities including on-prem Active Directory and hybrid infrastructure
• Contributing to documentation, standards, and team knowledge-sharing
What We're Looking For
• Solid hands-on Azure experience across a broad range of services — not just theoretical knowledge
• Experience with application migration or dependency mapping in Azure environments
• Proficiency with Terraform or other IaC tooling (Bicep, ARM)
• Good working knowledge of Azure networking fundamentals (VNets, NSGs, private endpoints)
• Familiarity with RBAC and identity/access management in Azure
• Experience with hybrid environments (Azure AD + on-prem AD)
• Relevant Azure certification (AZ-104, AZ-204, AZ-305 or equivalent)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
Nice to Have
• Experience with Azure DevOps pipelines and CI/CD automation
• Exposure to Microsoft 365 Modern Workplace administration
• Familiarity with cost management and FinOps practices in Azure
• Prior experience in enterprise-scale or multi-site environments
The Detail
• Contract engagement, initial term with likely extension
• 3 days on-site, 2 days remote per week
• Working with Children Check (or eligibility) required prior to start
• National Criminal History Check required
