I'm working on an exciting opportunity for an experienced Azure Cloud DBA Engineer to join a large-scale cloud transformation program. This role will suit someone who combines strong Azure infrastructure expertise with hands-on database administration and migration experience.

You'll play a key role in designing, migrating, securing, and optimising cloud-based database environments while supporting broader Azure cloud engineering initiatives.

Location - Canberra, Melbourne or Sydney

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end database migrations to Azure SQL PaaS
• Administer, maintain and optimise cloud-hosted databases
• Implement backup, recovery and disaster recovery solutions
• Monitor and improve database performance, availability and reliability
• Design and support secure, scalable Azure cloud environments
• Collaborate with infrastructure, security and project teams
• Support cloud migration planning, assessments and cutover activities
• Implement cloud security controls, governance and compliance requirements
• Contribute to automation, operational excellence and cost optimisation initiatives
• Ensure solutions align with security, architecture and operational standards

Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure
• Proven experience delivering Azure SQL Database (PaaS) migrations
• Experience with Azure Data Migration Service and related migration tools
• Strong database administration experience across:
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • PostgreSQL
  • MySQL
  • MongoDB
  • MariaDB
  • Oracle
• PowerShell scripting and automation experience
• Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines and Git exposure
• Strong understanding of Azure networking, identity and security
• Experience with cloud monitoring, logging and alerting solutions
• Knowledge of cloud governance, compliance and security frameworks

Highly Regarded

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
• Experience working within Federal Government or regulated environments
