Systima is a growing Managed Services Provider (MSP) with offices in Melbourne and Sydney. We support clients across a wide range of industries, delivering technical solutions with a focus on reliability, performance, and great service. We're now looking for a senior-level engineer to join our Sydney team as a technical go-to for advanced support and future project delivery.
The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for the successful delivery of customer projects across several technologies, including but not limited to Microsoft Cloud, networking, security, and modern workplace. This role focuses on implementing, configuring, and supporting solutions that have been designed and approved by the business.
In addition to project delivery, the Senior Systems Engineer provides escalation support to the Service Desk for complex issues and contributes to both the onboarding of new customers and the transition of delivered solutions into Managed Services. This includes ensuring environments are operationally ready, documented, and aligned to support standards, enabling a smooth handover to ongoing support teams.
The Solutions Engineer also actively maintains and grows their technical expertise through training, certification, and contribution to internal knowledge sharing.
Implement and deliver customer projects in line with agreed scope, timelines, and quality standards.
Configure, integrate, and migrate solutions across assigned technology areas.
Collaborate with project managers and peers to ensure successful project outcomes.
Produce technical documentation, including design documents, run books, and as-built documentation.
Identify risks, issues, and dependencies during delivery and escalate appropriately.
Assist with onboarding of new and transitioned clients/services into Managed Services, ensuring documentation, configurations, and support readiness are complete.
Perform root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and remediation of escalated issues to improve service stability.
Develop operational documentation (runbooks, SOPs, knowledge articles) to support ongoing support teams.
Provide escalation support to the Service Desk for complex incidents, problems, and SDM requests.
Mentor and provide knowledge transfer to Service Desk staff to uplift technical capability and ensure successful service transition.
Ensure the business can recognise revenue through timely timesheet submission.
Maintain and grow technical certifications relevant to assigned technology focus areas.
Contribute to internal knowledge bases, standards, and delivery frameworks.
Participate in team meetings, reporting, and administrative tasks as required.
Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends.
You are an experienced delivery engineer who takes pride in implementing solutions that work reliably from day one. You're equally comfortable configuring complex environments and writing the documentation that makes them supportable, and you understand that a clean handover is part of the job, not an afterthought. You communicate clearly with technical and non-technical people alike, flag risks early, and lift the capability of those around you.
Essential
4+ years' hands-on experience delivering IT projects within an MSP, systems integrator, or comparable fast-paced IT services environment.
Demonstrated experience implementing, configuring, and migrating solutions across Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Azure.
Working knowledge of networking (firewall configuration, SD-WAN, MPLS, VPN) and security (endpoint protection, email security, patch management).
Proven track record of delivering projects to scope, timeline, and quality standards.
Strong documentation discipline (design documents, run books, as-built, SOPs).
Eligibility to work in Australia & willing to undergo a Police check.
Desirable
Relevant current certifications, such as Microsoft MS-102, AZ-104, or AZ-305, and vendor certifications in firewall/SD-WAN platforms (e.g. Fortinet, Cisco Meraki, or similar).
Experience providing escalation support to a Service Desk and mentoring junior staff.
Experience with customer onboarding and transitioning solutions into Managed Services.
ITIL foundation knowledge.
