Role Overview
The Technical Pre-Sales and Post-sales Engineer is a partner facing, technically hands-on role responsible for supporting Chillisoft's sales and channel partners throughout the pre-sales lifecycle. This includes solution design, product demonstrations, proof-of-concepts (POCs), technical validation, and ongoing enablement of partners. For a couple of our SaaS vendors there is also a need to do implementation eg. Armis
This role acts as the trusted technical authority for assigned cyber security vendors and solutions, bridging the gap between vendor technologies, Chillisoft's sales team, and our reseller and MSP partners. Success in this role requires strong technical depth, excellent communication skills, and a consultative mindset.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Sales Technical Support
Provide expert pre-sales technical support to Chillisoft sales staff, IT consultants, resellers, and MSP partners.
Act as the primary technical point of contact for selected cyber security vendors and product portfolios.
Understand partner and end-customer requirements and translate them into appropriate technical solutions.
Assist with solution architecture, sizing, and design aligned to customer use cases and best practices.
Product Demonstrations and Proof-of-Concepts
Deliver high-quality technical product demonstrations, both remotely and in person, tailored to partner and customer needs.
Design, build, and manage proof-of-concept environments to validate product functionality and value.
Support trial deployments and provide guidance during evaluation phases.
Clearly articulate technical features, benefits, limitations, and differentiators of products.
Product Implementation
· Product Deployment & Configuration - Install, configure, and integrate software, hardware, or cloud-based products into customer environments, ensuring alignment with vendor best practices and security standards.
· Testing, Validation & Troubleshooting - Perform functional testing, performance validation, and issue resolution during and after implementation, including root cause analysis and remediation of defects.
· Customer Enablement & Handover - Provide technical documentation, knowledge transfer, and training to customer IT teams, ensuring a smooth transition to operational support.
· Ongoing Technical Support & Optimisation - Support post-implementation activities such as upgrades, enhancements, and optimisation, while collaborating with internal teams, vendors, and customers to resolve escalations
Partner Enablement and Training
Enable IT resellers and MSPs through technical training sessions, workshops, and webinars.
Develop and deliver partner-facing technical presentations and enablement materials.
Support partners in building internal capability to sell, deploy, and support cyber security solutions.
Actively contribute to partner onboarding and ongoing technical accreditation programs.
Vendor Engagement
Work closely with vendor technical teams to stay current with product updates, roadmaps, and best practices.
Attend vendor training, certification programs, and technical briefings as required.
Provide feedback to vendors on partner and customer requirements, market trends, and product gaps.
Sales Support and Collaboration
Collaborate closely with account managers to support sales opportunities and drive revenue growth.
Participate in customer and partner meetings to provide technical credibility and reassurance.
Assist with technical responses to RFPs, RFIs, and tenders.
Support deal qualification by assessing technical fit and implementation considerations.
Documentation and Knowledge Management
Create and maintain technical documentation, solution guides, and reference architectures.
Contribute to internal knowledge bases and best practice repositories.
Ensure technical information provided to partners and customers is accurate, current, and consistent.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Technical Qualifications
Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
Strong technical foundation in cyber security concepts, including a knowledge of:
Network security (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs), Endpoint security, Email and web security, Identity and access management (IAM), Cloud security fundamentals, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Exposure Management, Threat Intelligence
Experience with enterprise or mid-market cyber security products and vendors.
Certifications (Highly Regarded)
Vendor-specific cyber security certifications
Industry certifications such as:
CompTIA Security+
CISSP (or Associate of CISSP)
CCNA / CCNP (Security preferred)
Microsoft, AWS, or Azure security certifications
Professional Experience
5+ years' experience in a technical pre-sales, solutions engineering, or security engineering role.
Experience working with IT resellers, MSPs, or in an IT distribution or vendor environment is highly desirable.
Proven ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Hands-on experience deploying, configuring, or supporting cyber security solutions in real-world environments.
